Things We Wish We Could Ask in an Interview

If only we could ask the questions we really want to know.
When servers apply for jobs, there are certain things we wish we could ask the person interviewing us. If the shift meals are gross, we would like to know that. If the managers are picky assholes, we would like to know that too. And just so we know if we need to pick up another job, we would like to ask what kind of cash we're going to walk away with every time we work. Unfortunately, we just can't ask these questions in an interview, but oh do we wish we could!

Just Don't Ask These Things

"Is the coffee hot?"
"Can we sit over there instead?"
"What is there to eat here?"
"I have a gluten allergy.."
Servers do not have the authority to mess with the controls. Just don't ask.

Every now and then I get those customers that ask the stupidest questions; actually, it happens quite frequently. I wish people would use common sense when they speak, but that is asking too much most of the time. Here's a list of 20 questions that you should NOT ask your server. Enjoy and remember.. Don't ask your server these annoying questions!

Things Servers Say

Things all servers say... Pretty accurate, if you ask me.

That One Annyoing Question

Breaking News! Believe it or not, food will taste the same at a booth or a table.

As I do every Monday, I was hostessing at the restaurant I work at. I love getting the chance to dress up and do something different for a change; somehow it's always an adventure. My day started off great, until the restaurant started to get busier and fuller. As the regulars started to come in and the number of booths started to dwindle, my level of annoyance started to climb. As I was seating one older couple at a table, the woman turns to me and says, "You know what I am going to ask you, right? Can we have a booth?". As I stand there trying not to scream in this lady's face, she points out the only empty booth in the restaurant and asks to have it, but of course the booth has dirty plates and glasses all over, and needs wiped off. So, I clean off the dirty booth for the woman and her husband, all the while secretly wishing the booth seat would fall out from under her at some point while she gobbled down her eggs and bacon.
I haven't figured out if people think they are too good or noble to sit at a table, or if they really think the food will taste better when sitting at a booth. Either way, people should learn the common courtesy of sitting exactly where the host/hostess seats them. They do not just seat you there for no good reason at all, there is a reason you are being sat where you are. These reasons could vary from table rotation, server breaks, or just the shear fact that the booth you want is dirty and hasn't been cleaned yet.
So, to all you picky-ass people out there, PLEASE SIT WHERE THE HOSTESS SEATS YOU.

You're a Public Icon, Act Like One.

LeSean McCoy becomes a server's worst nightmare.
So let's just start by saying this, just because you're rich and famous does NOT give you the authority to not tip a waiter/waitress properly. LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles became a server's worst nightmare when he tipped his server $.20 on a $60.00 bill.
According to the article I read, McCoy and two other teammates dinned at a burger joint in Philly and were loud and rude the entire time. Then after they were loud and rude, they proceeded to tip horribly. LIKE WHAT THE HELL DUDE. Twenty cents, are you kidding me?! McCoy is supposed to be a public icon, but this is just not cool.

Here's the link to the article where I got this unbelievable information.

Things Servers Will Never Tell You

I was scrolling through Pinterest the other day and found a funny post about sever life. Here's a link to 'Things Servers Will Never Tell You'. Laugh it up folks, enjoy.

Welcome Back Football Weekends

Living in a college town means one thing... FOOTBALL. The people of my town go crazy for their college football, and they love to celebrate with food. The Sunday after game days are the busiest day of the week for us. Not only do I get to serve the "out-of-town" old folks, but I also get to wait hand and foot on the "too-hungover-to-function" college students. I don't know if the college students understand the fact that compliments don't pay my bills though... Talk about frustrating.

Hello All!

Hello everyone, this is my very first post, so bear with me here for a hot second. I am a 20 year old college student who is majoring in business management and marketing. I have been a waitress since I was 16 years old. I work at two different local restaurants; one is a breakfast/lunch place and the other is a higher end dinner restaurant. I LOVE both of my jobs and can't wait to share my crazy stories with all of you.

And here's a little something to make you giggle.
