As a server, I put up with way too much of people's rudeness to deal with on a daily basis. Making eye contact with your server is not against the law, it actually makes your server somewhat like you. "Diet Coke" is not an appropriate answer to "Hi, how are you today?". I will interrupt your conversation if you can't take 10 seconds to pay attention to me. And believe it or not, I really do not want to clean up after your child, that's your job. If you fight over who is going to pay the bill, I will promptly drop the check in the middle of the table and run. Lastly, I do apologize for the menu items being out of stock, but it is not my fault... so do NOT take it out on me.

If you're gonna be an ass, I will be an ass back at you. |
If customers weren't a big enough pain in my ass, let's talk about the issues that lie within the business itself. When we get a rush at the restaurant, we all start secretly hating each other for some unknown reason. Or how about when you're ready to start doing side work, and then the manager tells you to do a whole stack of napkins before you leave. Just no.
Here is a the
link to an article that outlines 17 times when servers don;t get paid enough.
""Diet Coke" is not an appropriate answer to "Hi, how are you today?"
ReplyDeleteActually it is, because that's how the customer wants their service *******INSTANTLY**** without a wait since *******YOU********* want ****THEIR MONEY CALLED A TIP********* you need to do what *********THEY********* want since ***THEY****
You have *******HUGE CONTROL ISSUES********!!
It's not rude, it's us starting our service the time it's supposed to be started not to delay our drinks and food. Why do you feel since *WE* are paying you, that you get the service the way *YOU* want it and not how *WE* want it, huh?
"I will interrupt your conversation if you can't take 10 seconds to pay attention to me."
Who says we aren't paying attention to you if we answer you with a drink order? I mean really, are you stupid?
Diet coke is an appropriate answer to how you are doing. You are making someone do something they don't want to do for *THEIR* hard earned money. There's nothing wrong with wanting service started faster. This is something wrong with you wanting to control someone else's tip money though. THAT IS an issue that YOU have that's YOUR PROBLEM, NOT OURS!
OUR TIP MONEY, WE DO THINGS******OUR WAY********, NOT YOURS!
If you want us to respond the way you want us to respond ********YOU******PAY US A TIP, NOT WE PAY YOU A TIP! You aren't our ruler or controller. WE RULE YOU, YOU DON'T RULE US! OUR MONEY, OUR RULES! When you tip your customers or pay our tip, ONLY ******THEN****** can you tell us how to run the service, GOT IT CONTROL FREAK?
You don't realize how *YOU* are being ***********INCONSIDERATE************** of our THIRST, TIME, AND HUNGER BY ASKING THIS UNNECESSARY QUESTION! YOU ARE RUDE ASKING THIS, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
ReplyDeleteSeems to me The only inconsiderate person here is the one who wrote those two comments. Judging by the way they wrote them, it's easy to see that this very article is about people like that. And just looking at their profile it's easy to see they have problems with bartenders and servers alike. So maybe they should just keep their sorry inconsiderate ass at home and cook for themselves and not bother going out causing problems for the people working hard for their money. Only snobs and pigs show such just disrespect to servers and bartenders.

HOW? They want *******CONTROL******** when they aren't paying, so HOW is that me being inconsiderate, huh?
Inconsiderate is when you are trying to spend someone else's tip money on what *YOU* want rather than what *THEY* want without permission to.
"So maybe they should just keep their sorry inconsiderate ass at home and cook for themselves and not bother going out causing problems for the people working hard for their money."
How is it "working hard" to ask "How are you doing", huh? My point of this is that *I* want what *I* want for *MY HARD EARNED TIP MONEY*. The server shouldn't get to decide what they want for our money as customers. WHY do you feel they should have that right, huh?
"Only snobs and pigs show such just disrespect to servers and bartenders."
It's 100% totally THE SERVERS DOING THE DISRESPECTING YOU STUPID IGNORANT MORON by not ************THINKING OF OUR **********************TIME************* YOU STUPID IGNORANT MORON!
How do you truly like someone to delay you when you are hungry and thirsty? I bet if you didn't eat all day you wouldn't feel the way you feel and you know it.
Only snobs and pigs don't think about the customer's feelings and time(thirst, hunger, and time in general). Only control freaks want to control someone else's money and time when THEY are paying our server, NOT the other way around.
If the server wants it that way, they should pay us a tip. That's why when the server says how we are doing, I should be able to say "Dr. Pepper", NOT answer the question. WHY DELAY MY TIME AND TIP MONEY LIKE THAT BECAUSE YOU WANT CONTROL IF YOU WERE MY SERVER, HUH?
What's with wanting control like this?
I completely agree with Terry Brenner's comment. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but it is inappropriate to post such inconsiderate posts on someone's blog. If you disagree with a post, then don't read the blog. Next time you feel the need to post mean comments, don't.

WHY? WHY do you CONDONE CONTROLLING SOMEONE ELSE'S TIP MONEY, HUH? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO TELL ME HOW I WANT TO SPEND MY TIP MONEY, HUH? You aren't there to tell me how to spend my money, NOBODY IS. Every second I am at the table is tip money time(TIME IS MONEY FOR BOTH OF US(server and customer). The customer is paying for that time not to be wasted and get delayed.
"Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion,"
It's not an opinion, it is a *FACT* that it's CONTROLLING someone else's tip money/time that they are paying for in the tip. It's not an opinion. No one should mandate they have to answer a question from a server if it doesn't pertain to the service itself. How I am doing doesn't at ALL pertain to getting me drinks, food, bags, boxes, napkins, etc., does it?
"but it is inappropriate to post such inconsiderate posts on someone's blog. "
It's INCONSIDERATE to CONTROL MY TIP MONEY! YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT IF YOU ARE A SERVER TO TELL ME HOW TO RESPOND TO A NON-SERVICE QUESTION. I DON'T "HAVE" TO ANSWER IT. JUST TAKE MY DAMN ORDER! DON'T ASK ME UNNECESSARY STUPID ASS QUESTIONS THAT ARE DELAYING MY FOOD AND DRINKS FROM GETTING TO ME AND AFFECTING OTHER CUSTOMER'S TIME AS WELL, NOT JUST MINE!
"If you disagree with a post, then don't read the blog. "
You can't disagree with lies she wrote. It's not anyone's right to tell anybody how to respond to a question that has NOTHING to do with service that they are paying for. Everyone should have the service *THEY* want, NOT what the server desires. The server isn't paying the customer, so they have ZERO SAY SO how we respond to a question that is meaningless and is a waste of valuable time.
" Next time you feel the need to post mean comments, don't."
You think I mean, WTH??? Morgan Donley is mean controlling people's money and time like that. THAT'S MEAN to PURPOSELY DELAY SOMEONE FROM GIVING THEIR ORDER. THAT IS MEAN! HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT'S NICE, HUH? I would like to know why you think purposely delaying someone from getting what they want for their money is nice? Please answer. Thanks in advance.
Controlling someone's tip money is not nice. Delaying someone's orders isn't nice either.
Springs1, I'm sorry you are so unhappy with the service you have received from waiters and/or waitresses, but unless Morgan Donley has personally served you I don't quite understand why you would get mad at her for controlling "your" money or time. She was just putting her views and thoughts out there because her job (just like anyone else's job) is stressful and frustrating. I greatly appreciate your posts though. They have definitely opened my eyes to what servers have to deal with.

DeleteIf I were your server, I'd probably quit my job.
DeleteSprings1, I do not know who you are, and quite frankly I do not care. You are obviously too coward to put your name on your profile. Your comments have been rather amusing to me; I thank you for the entertainment. I'm not going to take my precious time to argue each and every opinion of yours that you have so pathetically tried to point out to me. So, I am going to simply say, if my opinions bother you, do not read my blog. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteMorgan Donley
Delete"and every opinion of yours" " if my opinions bother you"
There are no opinions said as I said before that you want *CONTROL* over someone else's tip money and time that you aren't paying for, so yeah I am right, you are wrong. This is a *FACT*, NOT AN "OPINION" as you say.
"You are obviously too coward to put your name on your profile."
No, I am not stupid like you are to put your name on the internet. I don't have facebook or myspace or anything like that, that can connect me to the world like that. I am not that stupid.
I am not in any way controlling your money. If you do not want to tip your server, you do not have to. That's your choice. Now please, leave me and my blog alone if you have nothing nice to say. The fact that you have the audacity to call me names and tell me I'm stupid is beyond me. You have no clue who I am, so please leave me alone. Thank you.
